Welcome to the Steel City Harmonizers!

During the fall of 1996, about a dozen men began meeting with the goal to create a new barbershop harmony chapter in southwestern Pennsylvania. They recognized that this core group had the desire, the musical leadership, and administrative skills for running a successful chapter. On July 31, 1997, the Barbershop Harmony Society granted the formal charter to the Pittsburgh Metro Chapter, Barbershop Harmony Society. Click here for more info.

Pittsburgh Metro Mission Statement:

The Pittsburgh Metro Chapter and its Steel City Harmonizers accept the challenge of musical excellence, will always endeavor to sing their very best, and will, at the same time, seek to enjoy the hobby of barbershopping to its fullest.

First Annual Ice Cream Social

Who says dairy and singing don’t go together?

The Harmonizers held their first Ice Cream Social at the Trinity Christian School on August 6. The sky cleared nicely in spite of an early threat of rain.

The event featured the sounds of The Steel City Harmonizes, chapter quartets Emeritus, Stay Tuned!, Tones of Fun, and a whole lot of fun and free ice cream. This event, a give-back to the Forest Hills community, gave those attending a sneak preview of some of the music they will hear at our upcoming concert on November 5th, also at Trinity School.
